Thunder Bay's own Lakehead University is home to the 2011 North American University 1st place Steel bridge building team lead by faculty prof Dr. Tony Gillies .
For several years the students in this program have places consistently in the top three in competition against other North American universities that compete at the annual Steel Bridge Building competition. Design is key to building a model steel bridge that incorporates both strength and limitation as outlined in the design com- petition rules.
Dr. Gillies will review the program that has helped create many a new engineers , and students of the program will show a demonstration of there competitive steel
