President’s Message

The Canadian Welding Association takes pride in introducing the first issue of the Canadian Welding Association Journal.

It is intended to help communications within the Canadian welding community and provide our community with a publication dedicated exclusively to welding. In assembling the elements of this journal, we received support from all areas of our profession – welding professionals who gave their time to be interviewed, researchers who contributed papers and articles, and advertisers who supported the project to the extent that not only is the first issue larger than originally projected, but also we have been able to commit to publish the journal on a twice-a-year basis.

Since taking office in October 2002, it has been my pleasure to see the CWA working to bring the Canadian welding community together under one association banner.

Our individual members include practitioners, technicians, engineers, educators and students. Our supplier members include many of Canada’s leading manufacturers and distributors of welding equipment, consumables and gases. The Canadian Welding Bureau is an integral part of the association and a major contributor.

Now, we are reaching out to the fabricator and manufacturing community to invite them to join the association. They employ our individual members and buy our supplier members’ products. They are a key element in our profession and have benefits to gain and contribute through their membership in our association.

I am looking forward to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the journal as it evolves into the true voice of the Canadian welder.

This is the first issue. Your contributions made it possible. Your suggestions and contributions for future issues will make them better.
