Executive Director’s Message

The Canadian Welding Association came together in a merger of the Canadian Welding Society and the Welding Products Manufacturers Association of Canada almost two years ago. The Association has worked to bring together two cultures and set a single course for members.

The Canadian Welding Association Journal is one of the results of that merger. Contributors to the magazine come from members of both parent associations and from fabricators and manufacturers, a group we hope to recruit into the association.

Our objective is to make the journal a major vehicle for communicating with welding professionals across Canada. It will highlight interesting and important welding technologies and activities, and become a prime source of association information, industry news and technical papers.

We have received several suggestions for articles for future issues which include home projects, career information and profiles of welding professionals. To help the journal improve and grow, we need your suggestions, contributions and support in the form of:

• Articles and papers
• Improvements to layout and style
• Advertising

The journal will also be published on CWA’s website. There you will find the complete journal, including links to advertisers. Some articles that were too large to publish in the printed journal will be included in the website version.
