Presidents Message
Thank you to all the writers, advertisers and contributors in our first two issues. The first issue was well received by the Canadian welding community. Members of the association have been unanimous in their enthusiasm. The Journal is proving to be a major benefit for members. With this issue, we now begin publishing on a quarterly basis. The search for articles, news items and papers has become a major initiative for the association. The Canadian Welding Bureau has been a generous contributor to the article content of the Journal. We are also working with the academic community to generate technical papers for inclusion. We are looking for theses, research papers and articles of general interest. As CWA begins its 2003/2004 membership year, you will see new and old chapter chairs on our chapter information page. I welcome new chapter chairs Emad Assaad (Toronto), Tracy Lippai (Regina) and Brent Singleton (Winnipeg), and offer the support of the Canadian Welding Association in their efforts. I thank retiring chapter chairs David Jordan (Winnipeg), George Saxby (Regina) and Ed Whalen (Toronto), as well as all continuing chapter chairs for their significant contributions. As an association, we especially recognize George Saxbys contribution through many years of service to the association. He led the Regina chapter through its days as a chapter of the Welding Institute of Canada, Canadian Welding Society and Canadian Welding Association, and was a member of the group who re-established CWS in 1996. I am sure you will find this issue as interesting and informative as the first. Sincerely, Robert Shaw
