Executive Director’s Message

The Canadian Welding Association Journal is evolving into the welding industry’s trade publication, and is certainly a major benefit of membership in CWA. It brings together articles that highlight interesting welding activities across Canada, information on the Canadian Welding Association, and a section about the Canadian Welding Bureau’s activities.

The editorial content of the Journal is now being overseen by a committee made up of Bruce Clark, Grant Harvey, Bruce James and Mick Pates. This group brings together considerable experience to set themes for the Journal, find authors, source articles and review material to ensure the validity and interest level for what is being printed.

We have amended our editorial schedule for 2004. With the August 2003 power failure across northeastern North America, the importance of power generation and distribution comes to the fore. The theme for the Winter 2004 issue will be power generation, followed by welding robotics for the Spring 2004 issue. The Summer 2004 issue will preview some of the new welding technology that will be highlighted at the Weld Expo Canada trade show scheduled for Toronto in September 2004.

We ask for your input and feedback about the Journal. Let us know about interesting welding projects, processes and technology that would make suitable articles. The contributions of the welding community to this and future issues encourage dialogue within the industry.
