"Advancements in Remote Field Technology (RFT)," by Ankit Vajpayee

Ankit Vajpayee (B.Sc., M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering) worked at the Kharkiv National University (1999 - 2003), before joining the Russell NDT Group of Companies. Ankit is currently the CEO and Managing director of Russel Technology India, the Director of Business Development of Russell NDE Systems Inc. Canada, and a senior consultant of Russell Technologies Co. He is actively involved with NDT societies world-wide, and holds credentials in Eddy Current Techniques (ECT) and Remote Field Technology (RFT), and is involved with R&D to further advance RFT and its applications. Ankit will introduce RFT, and explain how it differs from Eddy Current and Magnetic Flux Leakage testing. Ankit will present conventional RFT probes and their applications before introducing advanced array probes. Ankit also will discuss the future of RFT, including the integration of robotics and recent developments in the field.

"The Application of the ACFM Technique to Weld Inspection," by David Topp

David Topp (B.Sc. Civil Engineering) received an M.Sc. in Offshore Structures at the Cranfield Institute of Technology (1979). After designing offshore platforms for Brown and Root, he joined the Mechanical Engineering Department of University College London, researching fatigue and fracture mechanics. David joined TSC Inspection Systems in 1987, where he is now Managing Director. As one of the original inventors of the AC Field Measurement (ACFM) technique, David continues to develop both ACFM and its application to non-destructive testing in a broad range of industries (including oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, and railway). David will explain the ACFM technique, and how it differs from other surface crack detection methods. David will discuss the use of both simple and advanced array probes, as well as the use of remote deployment (both above and below water). David also will discuss recent ACFM developments and applications.
