Mr. Ken Kerluke of Erin, Ontario was awarded the Michael N. Vuchnich Award for 2007. This award, which has been sponsored by the Lincoln Electric Company of Canada Limited since 1986, is presented annually to one individual who has “done the most to advance the science, technology and application of arc welding in Canada in their career.” One of his nominators stated: “As to Ken Kerluke I can't overstate my endorsement for his candidacy. In addition to being an overall great guy, he contributes more than most by his clear communication of welding principles to welding engineers and to welders alike. He communicates the reality of the SCIENCE of welding which is that there are real and measurable variables that have predictable consequences. His courses take the art out of welding and put the science back in. After seven years in the field, I sat through one of his courses on the MIG welding of steel and learned a ton in one day.”
