Weld Expo 2010
Canadian Welding Association in partnership with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers prepare for Canada's largest and most comprehensive welding industry event. WeldExpo 2010 is back and just in time as the Automotive, Energy and Transportation sectors continue to recover and Canadian manufacturing sales are making their ninth gain in the past eleven months.

WeldExpo, October 5-7, 2010, as part of Canadian Manufacturing Week (CMW), is poised to deliver the technology and knowledge manufacturers need to compete and grow. CMW/WeldExpo, Canada's largest manufacturing showcase in 2010, has secured unprecedented industry support for this year, including the Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association (APMA), Canadian Welding Association, CWB Group (CWA/CWB), American Welding Society (AWS), Canadian Wind Energy Association (CANWEA), Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME), Canadian Fluid Power Association (CFPA), Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA), Rogers Media and CLB Media.

In addition, the Canadian Welding Association will host a comprehensive education program including speakers from ABB, Air Liquide, NRC, Liburdi and more. The CWA will also host the prestigious Canada's Best Welder Competition right on the WeldExpo show floor. At the heart of it all is the high-calibre suppliers on the show floor including: Lincoln Electric, Miller Hobart, Liburdi, 3M Canada, Nederman, ESAB Canada and many others who will bring the latest technology to Canadian manufacturers attending the show. With so much happening both on and off the show floor, WeldExpo 2010 is this year's must-attend event for anyone in the welding and joining industry.

"We took the time to listen to our key suppliers in welding and fabricating segments to clearly define the type of audiences they want to see at the show" said Nick Samain, CMW/WeldExpo Event Manager. "The net results are clearly showing a greater participation from industries where demand is high for welding, fabricating and consumables, including automotive repair, custom fabricating, construction and metal finishing."

"With an unprecedented investment through our event partners, media partners, marketing reach and industry groups, we know a significant and influential audience is coming to WeldExpo. The industry message is both loud and proud from both SME and the CWA – this is your Canadian welding and fabricating industry event – you can't afford to miss it" adds Samain. SteelDay – Launch
The Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) is excited to announce the launch of SteelDay. Across Canada, companies will open their facilities, job sites, and offices to offer tours and demonstrations. Architects, engineers, contractors, developers, students, educators and the general public are invited to see how we contribute to building Canada. Steelday.ca is the primary information, communications, event listing and attendee registration tool. Host companies use the site to post time, location, catering and safety information. Attendees use the site to register to attend their local event. SteelDay provides a platform to speak with a common voice for the industry regarding the benefits of steel as a material, including:

• Sustainability, with over 93% recycled content
• Technological sophistication, a fully integrated supply chain (eliminating errors and downtime)
• Reduced risk, project costs are lowered as a result of reduced labour, equipment and foundation costs
• Accelerated projects - using high quality, off-site fabrication
• Increased returns with aesthetically pleasing structures that maximize floor space, generate revenue sooner
