CWAS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Canadian Welding Associations 2007 Annual General Meeting will be held at 4:30 pm on Monday, October 15, 2007, at the Renaissance Toronto Airport Hotel. Besides the chapter, committee and function reports, we will review the merger with CWB Group and provide you with information about our next steps.

CANADIAN WELDING ASSOCIATION AWARD NOMINATIONS
The CWA is seeking additional nominations for its annual major awards: the Robert J. Jacobson Memorial Award and the Michael N. Vuchnich Award. They will be awarded at the CWAs 2007 Annual Awards Dinner on Monday, October 15, 2007.
The Robert J. Jacobson Memorial Award was established to honour an individual “who has made an outstanding contribution to the CWA Chapter operations.”
The Michael N. Vuchnich Award is presented annually to an individual who, in the opinion of the CWA Awards Committee, has “done the most to advance the science, technology and application of arc welding in Canada in their career.”

The 2007 Awards Dinner will also be held at the Renaissance Toronto Airport Hotel with a reception at 5:30 pm followed by the dinner and awards at 6:30 pm.
ALBERTA SUPPLY CHAIN SEMINARS
This month, Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry will host supply chain seminars in four locations throughout Alberta. The seminars are titled:
Driving Productivity & Innovation Through Your Supply Chain
- Lethbridge – September 17
- Calgary – September 18
- Red Deer – September 19
- Grand Prairie – September 21
Participants will take on strategies and techniques that you can begin applying immediately into your companies. Learnings will be offered through case studies, lecture sections and project development sessions. Dont miss this seminar series – its had great response.

MIKE CHERRY MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
CWAs Toronto chapter hosted its Mike Cherry Memorial Golf Tournament last week. The tournament was a major success with over 100 golfers in attendance. The tournament supports a $2,500 scholarship in memory of Mike Cherry.
The scholarship is awarded annually to a student going into fourth-year mechanical engineering at the University of Waterloo. The recipient will be announced at CWAs 2007 Awards Dinner.
