WELD EXPO CANADA
The supplier members of the Canadian Welding Association have been meeting with Reed Exhibitions to plan the Weld Expo Canada trade show and future trade shows in other venues across Canada.
There is general agreement that supplier members will participate in the trade show. Reed has offered new programs to advertise the show and promote it as a major welding-industry event.
CALL FOR SPEAKERS CONFERENCE PROGRAM AT WELD EXPO CANADA
CWA, Reed, and Reeds other industry partners will host a series of seminars at Canadian Manufacturing Week, of which Weld Expo Canada is a part. The objective is to add value to the attendees experience at the trade show.
The seminars will be held during the trade show, from September 26 to 28, 2006, in Toronto. Sessions will include presentations on productivity, technology, education and safety.
GOLDEN TRIANGLES TRY-THE-TECHNOLOGY EVENT
The CWAs Golden Triangle chapter hosted its Try-the-Technology evening in cooperation with the Hamilton & Toronto chapters. The event took place in Conestoga Colleges (Guelph campus) welding-applications lab on February 28 from 3 to 7 pm. The Try-the-Technology event is an opportunity for industry professionals to get some hands-on experience with some of the latest welding, cutting and brazing equipment for the individual and industrial user. Over 200 people attended.
HAMILTON CHAPTERS INDUSTRY EDUCATION FORUM RAISES $60,000
On March 1, the Hamilton chapter hosted an Industry Education Forum to reconnect with the regional high schools and help to provide them with support and recognition for their welding programs. Over 100 interested educators and welding-industry professionals attended. The support was enormous. The industry donated $60,000 in equipment, consumables, education/training and financial support.

- 4 plasma packages
- 109 welding helmets
- Welding gloves and accessories
- Tons (literally) of consumables, including steel coupons

The Hamilton chapter donated $15,000. Lincoln Electric also donated several of its Let No Teacher Be Left Behind CD-ROM training modules. A complete listing of donations will be posted to the Hamilton webpage.
This event shows what a CWA chapter can do to assist local high schools in their welding programs.
