CWA NATIONAL EVENTS

The Canadian Welding Association will hold its Annual General Meeting and Annual Awards Dinner on Monday, September 27, 2004, in Toronto. A Board of Directors meeting will be held the same day.

These events will be held in conjunction with the Weld Expo Canada trade show scheduled for September 28 to 30, 2004, at the International Centre on Airport Road.

Watch for further announcements on these events.

CWA AWARDS

The Robert J. Jacobson Memorial Award and the Michael N. Vuchnich Award, as well as several chapter awards and scholarships, will be awarded at the Annual Awards Dinner.

Nomination forms for these two awards can be found on the Awards page.

NOMINATIONS

At its AGM in September, the CWA membership will elect its executive committee. The CWA Nominations Committee will meet on a conference call on Wednesday, June 9, to assemble the slate of officers to be presented at the AGM.

STAINLESS STEEL WIRE TARIFF

On July 6, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal will hold a public hearing in Ottawa that will be useful for CWA members that import stainless steel wire products.

CANADIAN WELDING ASSOCIATION JOURNAL

As always, the Canadian Welding Association Journal is looking for articles and themes for upcoming issues. Currently, proposed themes for upcoming issues include Fabricators and Education.

CWA GOLF TOURNAMENTS

The Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg chapters will hold their golf tournaments on Saturday, June 5.

Golden Triangle, Hamilton and Toronto chapters will host the Mike Irvine Memorial Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 24. Contact the local chapters for details.

SKILLS CANADA

The 2004 Skills Canada competition took place in Winnipeg on May 28 and 29. Students from secondary and post-secondary schools across Canada competed.
