CWA FALL MEETINGS

The fall Board of Directors Meeting, the Annual General Meeting and the 2004 Annual Awards Dinner are scheduled for Monday, September 27, in Toronto, immediately prior to the Weld Expo Canada trade show, September 28 to 30, 2004.

CWA AWARDS

The CWA awards – Robert J. Jacobson Memorial Award and Michael N. Vuchnich Award – will be presented at the Awards Dinner. The Robert J. Jacobson Memorial Award honours an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to CWA Chapter operations. The Michael N. Vuchnich Award is presented to the individual who has done the most to advance the science, technology and application of arc welding in Canada in their career. We need your nominations prior to August 21. Nomination forms are online.

WELD EXPO CANADA

CWA’s supplier members will be exhibiting their goods and services at Weld Expo Canada. This is a great opportunity to see the latest in welding technology and technique.

The Dream Welding Workshop will be raffled off after the trade show. This fabulous prize is a collection of supplier members’ products, and contains enough welding equipment, consumables and supplies to start a home or small-business workshop. The raffle is open to attendees at Weld Expo Canada.

CANADIAN WELDING ASSOCIATION JOURNAL

The Canadian Welding Association Journal will be mailed to all CWA members in mid-August. It’s the biggest one we have ever published with lots of great articles.

We are again looking for articles on all phases of welding, the welding industry and the people in the industry. Can you offer any suggestions for articles, authors, or themes for upcoming Journals? Information on our editorial requirements is online.

MIKE IRVINE MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Mike Irvine Memorial Golf Tournament was a great success this year. The event was organized by CWA’s Hamilton, Toronto and Golden Triangle chapters. 144 golfers participated. Significant funds were raised to assist secondary and post-secondary welding students to participate in provincial and national Skills Canada competitions, as well as to provide scholarships to welding schools in Ontario.

CANADIAN MACHINERY AND METALWORKING MAGAZINE

Beginning early this fall, Rogers Media’s magazine Canadian Machinery and Metalworking will be mailed to all CWA members. This was accomplished through a new arrangement made between Larry Bonikowsky, CMM’s new senior publisher, and CWA.
