HOLIDAY GREETINGS FROM BILL ECCLES

In this, my first greeting to you as President of the Canadian Welding Association, I extend my best wishes to you, your fellow welding professionals and your families for a safe and happy holiday season and a prosperous new year.

CWA has set an ambitious course for itself over the next year.

Your participation is vital to our mutual success. I challenge every one of my fellow members to bring in a fellow welder as a CWA member. Our strength comes from members’ participation. You benefit from increased membership in the exchange of welding technical knowledge and the opportunities for networking.

In 2004, CWA achieved many of its goals. We couldn’t have done it without you:

  • We achieved growth in our membership numbers;
  • We had a tremendous turnout of welding professionals at the 2004 Weld Expo Canada trade show and at our Welding Symposium;
  • Our Dream Welding Workshop provided welcome exposure for the association and generated over 100 new members for CWA;
  • We produced four issues of Canadian Welding Association Journal that made you proud;
  • We improved responsiveness in our administrative practices.

We have big goals for 2005:

  • To publish four bigger and better issues of Canadian Welding Association Journal;
  • To establish a register of speakers to assist chapters in finding presenters for their technical sessions;
  • To increase our membership, especially of fabricators, by hiring a sales representative to market membership in CWA;
  • To add a CWA chapter in British Columbia.

To achieve these goals, the CWA needs your help – I ask you to:

  • Participate in CWA activities and initiatives;
  • Recruit one more individual or company as a CWA member;
  • Suggest authors and topics for articles in Canadian Welding Association Journal;
  • Help in any way you can to strengthen your chapter, your association and your industry.

NATIONAL OFFICE HOLIDAY CLOSING

CWA’s national office will close at noon on Friday, December 24, and reopen at 9:00 am on Monday, January 3, 2005.
