CANADIAN WELDING ASSOCIATION AWARD NOMINATIONS
The CWA is seeking nominations for its annual major awards: the Robert J. Jacobson Memorial Award and the Michael N. Vuchnich Award. They will be awarded at the CWAs 2007 Annual Awards Dinner on Monday, October 15, 2007.
The Robert J. Jacobson Memorial Award was established to honour an individual “who has made an outstanding contribution to the CWA Chapter operations.”
The Michael N. Vuchnich Award is presented annually to an individual who, in the opinion of the CWA Awards Committee, has “done the most to advance the science, technology and application of arc welding in Canada in their career.”
Complete information and forms can be found online. Please submit your nominations on or before August 31.
CWAS WELDING HANDBOOK AND MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
The CWA is investigating the viability of publishing an annual directory that will include welding information and a membership directory. We will include the primary contact information that is shown on the form with your membership card. Members who do not wish to have their contact information shown, or have new contact information, should advise the CWA before September 30.
CWA-CWB GROUP MERGER UPDATE
At the CWB Group's board of directors meeting on June 1, 2007, the board formed a sub-committee to look at a merger with the Canadian Welding Association. The sub-committee will report to the CWB Group's board at its meeting on October 12. CWA's 2007 Board of Directors Meeting, Annual General Meeting and Awards Dinner are scheduled for Monday, October 15, in Toronto. We will receive a report from the CWB Group at that time.
