ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
CWA’s Annual General Meeting will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, September 27, at the Toronto Board of Trade, 830 Dixon Road at the Toronto International Airport. All members are welcome.
AWARDS DINNER
CWA’s 2004 Awards Dinner will follow the Annual General Meeting at 6:00 pm, at the Toronto Board of Trade.
CWA’s awards – Robert J. Jacobson Memorial Award and Michael N. Vuchnich Award – will be presented at the dinner. Other awards, for students, include the Mike Cherry Memorial Scholarship, the Toronto Chapter’s scholarship and Northern College’s student awards.
2004 WELDING SYMPOSIUM
CWA’s 2004 Welding Symposium will be held in the Laurentian Room at the International Centre during Weld Expo Canada, on Wednesday, September 29, beginning at 10:30 am. The International Centre is at 6900 Airport Road at Derry, across the street from the Toronto International Airport. Speakers include:
10:30 am – “Welding of Stainless Steels” – Frank Babish, Technical Manager, Welding Products, Sandvik Steel Company
11:30 am – “Aluminum Welding: Increasing Productivity through Advances in Technology” – Thom Burns, Regional Sales Manager, AlcoTec Wire Corporation
1:30 pm – “Fabrication and Repair Welding” – Andy McCartney, Manager of Welding Services, Omniweld Integrated Solutions
2:30 pm – “Production Monitoring” – Bernie Beaudoin, Manager, Marketing and Product Development – North America, Lincoln Electric Company
WELD EXPO CANADA
CWA’s supplier members (and many others) will exhibit the latest in welding technology at Reed Exhibitions’ Weld Expo Canada trade show. The show runs from Tuesday, September 28, to Thursday, September 30. Register for free admission using the flyer you received with the Canadian Welding Association Journal.
Student day is Tuesday, September 28. Students (16 years old) can attend. They must be registered by their instructors. Instructors should contact the CWA office for details.
DREAM WELDING WORKSHOP
CWA’s Dream Welding Workshop will be awarded following the Weld Expo Canada trade show. This fabulous prize is a collection of supplier members’ products, and contains enough welding equipment, consumables and supplies to start a home or small-business workshop. The prize is open only to attendees at Weld Expo Canada.
